General use

Customize your AGENTS.md

Write down the instructions you keep repeating.

An open notebook and pencil with a translucent teal bookmark.

If you find yourself telling the agent the same thing repeatedly, it probably belongs in an AGENTS.md file or a skill. Put standing guidance in AGENTS.md: how you want to work, the project's conventions, and what a finished task should include.

Use a skill for a repeatable workflow with its own steps. I recommend writing your instructions by hand. Be specific about what matters to you, keep them readable, and remove instructions that are no longer useful.

Try it

  1. Notice the corrections you have made more than once.
  2. Write a short instruction that tells the agent what to do next time.
  3. Put project guidance in AGENTS.md and repeatable workflows in a skill.

A prompt to steal

Read my AGENTS.md before starting. Follow its project conventions and completion checks. If an instruction is unclear or conflicts with this request, point out the specific conflict.
