Making sites and apps

Build disposable sites

Make a useful little site even if you only need it once.

A small teal pop-up kiosk with a laptop on its counter.

Have it build random sites for random things. A trip planner, a comparison tool, or a page for an event can be worth making even if it has a very short life. I build sites I use once and then throw away.

Keep the request focused on the job you need done. A one-off tool often only needs a single page and a few useful interactions. Use it, get what you need, and move on.

Try it

  1. Pick one small decision or task a page could help with.
  2. Describe the inputs, the result, and the interaction you need.
  3. Ask for the simplest working version and try it with real information.

A prompt to steal

Build a small site to help me compare these options: ... I only need it for this decision. Keep it to one page with the inputs and comparison I need, and make it easy to use on my phone.
